Cima Settsass (2.571 mt) is an isolated and really remunerative and easy peak. Settsass is a long isolated dorsal, that you can completely walk around and also that allow you to enjoy a great panorama from its peak, expecially on Cunturines group, Sella Group, mount Civetta, Tofane Group and Marmolada. This hike bring you on an easy peak and the path has not significative elevation gain. Only the uphill to the top takes a bit of effort and attention through the rocks close to the peak. The setting is bucolic and very restful for the eyes and mind.
On the other hand,, the ring around Settsass is long and need a whole day to be done. Good training is required. On the southern side of the ring pay attention to the path because signals are not very clear. The hike starts from Valparola Pass Hut 2.178 mt), 20′ minutes by car from San Cassiano in Badia village. Take path n° 24 and without any difficult after about 1 hour-1 hour and half you will reach a crossroad, immediatley after the Vallone Pudres, a strict valley just outside a woodland. The way to the peak starts from this point. On your left the path begin to be more steep and goes rising quickly to the top (about 30′-40′). These part of the path runs on the dorsal of the mountain, so the panorama on both sides of Settsass is really amazing. Many peaks over 3.000 mt. are around you. Marmolada (the Queen of Dolomites) with her 3.342 mt is well visible. The top is large and a big cross is in the middle. However, mind your step. The south part of the peak is overhanging under your feet.
Then you have to go back on the same way to continue the ring. Few minutes before the crossroad, you will find a steep descent on the left, marked with a path sign: it is a good shortcut. The final part of the ring starts now. But the way to Valparola pass is still long, around 2 hrs. Thepanorama around you is beautiful and these help you to find energy to finish the hike, that presents no difficult till the Pass
